I do have two sound devices. The headset is USB, and acts as it's own sound device. The speakers are plugged into my onboard sound. When I open the mixer for the default device(speakers), it shows all the applications sending it sound, yet when I open the mixer for the headset it shows some of the same applications, but not all of them, and the sound won't play through the headset unlessthe program has the ability to select which device to output to. Unless of course I set up the headset as the default sound device, but that won't let the sound play through the speakers then. Now if every program had that ability I wouldn't have this problem. Yet you would think Windows would have a way around this. Download movie one piece. Any other suggestions?
So I got my HTC Vive recently and I decided to play the game's sound both through my Logitech G930 USB-Headset (for the player's immersion) and through my Speaker System Z523 (jack) for the jealous non-playing audience. However, I was unable to do so. As far as I know, I have one sound card (VIA HD) on my Mainboard Gigabyte Ga-H77M-D3H, but it should be possible nonetheless if you record your own sound and transport it to another speaker/headset by using STEREO MIX in your SoundRecording menu.I know I had this option 'stereo mix' but after both a windows update and installing the realtek HD audio codecs (I think I was misled by some 'helpful' page), it is gone. I updated my VIA HD Audio drivers (VIAHDAudv111100e01282016), but still no STEREO MIX.I think the realtek audio manager even has the option to play the same sound via two speakers, but as an apparent VIA HD user, I only have this shitty HD VDeck which is not helpful.Suggestions?
Is buying a splitter my only hope? I actually hoped to avoid that. Realtek again! Why is the whole world using realtek. Hearts of iron 4 usa guide. Or rather - why am I not?!In front I have two jacks (audio microphone) and three in the back (microphone audio ?? I never understood the last one), but my headset uses USB anyway. So far, I can only switch between them by changing which one of them is 'standard'.You are making a fundamental mistake. You are assuming you only have 1 'sound card' which you do not, and thus you cannot link it without a special programme. You have 2 sound cards, one of them is your headset. So you're trying to get output to go to 2 sound cards and Windows doesn't like that.
But it should be possible. The application you're playing it on however. Now THAT will determine if you want to pull your hair out or not. You can try this but it's fully reliant on whether or not VIA decided to include this type of function in their driver:No guarantees and it can be wonky because as I've stated Windows isn't built to allow what you're requesting normally.Doesn't mean it cannot be done but it's a gamble and can freak, be delayed etc.Try it, if it works and it's satisfactory your issue is solved, if not. Nothing I can do to help you afterwards.Sincere thanks for your efforts, but as stated in my original post. Sincere thanks for your efforts, but as stated in my original post,I might duplicate the sound by having a second window reflecting the Vive's pictures and sound and assign another speaker/headset to the new window. I'll hit the internet to see if that worksThen unless you find some specialized programme. You're shit out of luck really.Windows simply isn't built to forward the same sound source through 2 different sound outputs. As I said your headset is another sound card and in this case you might've been better off with an analogue headset.
However having said that VIA isn't really known for high standard sound codecs and software so. You might've been shit out of luck on that part as well.Sorry.-Updated -. Or he could run the sound through a secondary receiver that then allows him to output the sound to his speakers and headset(although the headset would have to be analog so he could hook the microphone to the PC).
In my experience, the answer is no. As soon as you plug in the headphones into the 3.5mm jack, it replaces the internal speakers as the default output (and vice versa when you unplug them). There are several as to whether this is actually a limitation in the hardware or the software, but the end result always seems to be the same. Now this may not answer specifically what you're asking, but for interest, the only time I've had any success with simultaneous headphone and speaker output is when using a USB device, such as a headset or USB speakers. In order to get this to work, you'll need to plug in the USB device, then do the following:.
Usb Headset And Speakers At The Same Time Video
Start the Apple 'Audio MIDI Setup' utility ( /Applications/Utilities/Audio MIDI Setup).Select the '+' in the bottom-left and select 'Create Multi-Output Device'.Select the Multi-Output Device that has been added and in the right-hand pane, select both the 'Built-in Output' and your USB device. That should look something like this:.Start 'System Preferences' → 'Sound' and click the 'Output' tab. Select the 'Multi-Output Device' that's now there. An unfortunate side-effect of this, as 'The selected device has no output controls' eludes to, is that you now can't control the volume in the normal manner. To do this, you'll have to go back to Audio MIDI Setup and do it from there for each of the outputs.
